When you deny or ignore pain then the body escalates the alarm hoping you will take action. When I had my heart surgery 13 years ago every other patient had morphine for their pain. They had a button they pressed for another shot. I did not have morphine at all, the nurse said I was lucky in that I had a high threshold of pain. My hide was thick as a Rhinos and it would take a lot to hurt me 🙂 Seems to be different with emotional pain though. People would remark I was a nervous child and my mum would always say “Not his fault he is a bit highly strung.” It’s been life long and my sister held the key to why that was but only told me about 7 years ago what happened to her 18-month-old brother. PTSD is real. Do not let anyone convince you otherwise.
