When I was a kid the BBC banned a great record from being played on air. It was an instrumental titled AMERICA and the band was The Nice. You know the song ‘Everything’s big in America, etc.’ A rock instrumental version of that. On the last extended note of the tune, a young girl’s voice says “America is pregnant with anticipation but is murdered by the hand of the inevitable!” I did not understand the BBC explanation of doing so BUT that word inevitable is so much like the word DOOM. No matter where you hide, DOOM will find you. We all live with DOOM every breath (as it may be your last one) but our gratitude for the gift of life carries us through.
