Looking at a blank sheet of paper is something all writers do now and then.

Some writers get this all the time, and never write anything. It’s because you have to understand, that writing is a combination of skills, knowledge, and joining with an “inner creative being” who is living inside of you, who wants to tell out its soul. This sub-conscious being, who we get very brief glimpses of, is the “real” you. You may doubt that this is true. Ever played darts? The very best darts players play intuitively. They “know” where the dart is supposed to go. In their mind they already see that dart hitting the treble 20. They throw the dart without plan, analysis, or thought, and low and behold, they hear 180 shouted out by the score keeper, as this is their third dart in a row, to be imagined, into that tiny piece of “treble twenty” dart board. New players, think too much, try to hard, and as a result inevitably give up playing. AND THIS IS TRUE FOR ANY SKILL. Practice, don’t think, or read up about the subject. Watch others & practice. Jimi Hendrix played a guitar that he devised himself, and copied no one’s style of playing. He is unique. A legend. A genius, AND all of it came from within himself. He just needed intent [a prompt] and the tools of his trade {he designed his own guitar to give him a “sound” he had in his head.} & intuition.

Note: – INTENT has to be good. Good intent. If, from the “get go” you set out with bad intent… Well, that’s what you will end up with. Something, genius, BUT flawed, some thing bad, rotten, putrifying. Something disappointingly far short of any measurable worth. Who amongst you wants to create bad things? Answer: – “Many people, a great many.” BUT I don’t want you to be one of them. The world Already has enough evil geniuses, thank you Very much.

here’s your starting point. WRITERS WRITE.

A writer who doesn’t write isn’t!!

So what do we need to write??

  • paper or an electronic screen
  • pencil or keyboard
  • Intent and intuition

That’s it. What you write, will, with patience and practice, intuitively come to you. You just need to make a start. Be prepeared to write a lot of gibberish, rubbish, noise, in short complete bollox. Success and Failure go hand in hand in this game. Not every song Lennon & McCartney wote was genius, many of them were a complete disaster. Write just the same. Great stories come seemingly from nowhere!! that’s why its called creative writing. Bare in mind what you eventually write is part of a greater whole. What you’ve written might be the start, middle or end of a much bigger tale. AND HAVE FUN! ALWAYS The clue is in the title, CREATIVE – almost every great writer starts from a single thought / idea. These are called PROMPTS.
